Second lecture back last night, couldn't bring myself to write about the first, needed some time to reflect. My first lecture back was based around assessment, I guess it was a shock to the system, I wasn't ready for any study after such a long and relaxing break over Christmas. The subject of questioning was agonising for me, I struggled with many of the concepts, in particular how it relates to Blooms Taxonomy. I honestly didn't feel helped or tutored in the subject, maybe my mind was elsewhere but I couldn't focus. That very day I had read an article from the TES regarding questioning and that perhaps its not the best move, our lecturer quoted fairly old statistics from the TES about questioning and the whole thing slightly angered me, I was frustrated.
Our lecture last night was on the subject of curriculum, on the surface a boring and perhaps irrelevant subject to someone teaching in my field. However I embraced it and read journal articles before the lecture, for once I felt more prepared than the others. The subject actually fascinates me, particularly hidden curriculums, I'm looking forward to getting hold of a copy of Knowledge and Control by Michael F D Young, I'm also intrigued into schooling pre the National Curriculum.
